Structural Life Drawing

comment Comment Written by Figure Drawing on June 11, 2009 – 2:41 pm

What a great video to start with! This is a Structural Figure Life Drawing. Structure is fundamental creating correct and convincing Figure Drawings. This is obviously being used to help promote Otis College, but who cares? If the demo’s are this comprehensive then the classes should be good.

I Like It:

  • There is a a lot of dialogue that will help a new artist to understand what he or she should be learning.
  • The drawings are very complete – Use the Pause to get a good look.
  • There is a Comparison of drawing to the Model which makes it helpful to understand.
  • It’s not too long.

Learning from this:

  • Notice the amount of measuring lines.
  • Get better at being correct in your figure drawing.
  • Learn how perspective works within your figure drawing.

I suggest you load two versions of the video. One to pause and one to run. Pause on the model and draw what you see with the lesson being reinforced. Good Luck and Get figure drawing!
